About Us
| Wisdom House is a ministry of the Daughters of Wisdom
who are women called into community to proclaim Wisdom's
love for all of humanity in a world that hungers for
meaning, justice and compassion. Although they are a Catholic Congregation, their vision extends to meeting Wisdom in people of all faiths, races, cultures and backgrounds and all are welcome in Wisdom House. Their spirituality is that of seeking and proclaiming the love of Christ Wisdom in ordinary, everyday events and experiences. They see all reality, creation, human life with its joys and struggles as being an interconnected and sacred whole and honour a commitment to respect all life, planet, earth and cosmos. The Daughters of Wisdom trace their origins back to 18th Century France where Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort walked among the poor and abandoned, making the Gospel of Christ relevant by challenging the injustices of his day. Louis Marie spoke of his vision of Christ Wisdom who creates. loves and frees. In 1701 Marie Louis Trichet met Louis Marie. This was the turning point in her life. In a culture of gross injustice, Marie Louise was inspired to dedicate her life to the needs and concerns of the poor. From an experience of God as Divine Wisdom, Louis Marie and Marie Louise had a burning desire to free people from injustice and oppression. This was the initial inspiration for the Daughters of Wisdom. Following in our Founders' footsteps and with the same burning desire, we proclaim with our lives and relationship, the love of Wisdom for humanity and all life. With others we seek to denounce injustice and to liberate and nurture the seeds of hope already present in the world.
